**Seven of Bonaire’s Finest Culinary “Creatives” Will Go For the Gold For Bonaire! **
Kralendijk, Bonaire – Over ten teams, each representing a different Caribbean island, will compete in the upcoming “Taste of the Caribbean”, an annual culinary event which showcases the fusion of Caribbean tastes with classic cooking, so prevalent in the region. The event, comprising of a food/culinary team competition, bartender competition, and pastry competition, will be held at the Hyatt Regency Miami from June 26-30, 2013. Bonaire is sending a seven-member “dream team” with some of the island’s most creative chefs and a mixology specialist.
“It is inspiring to not only be able to cheer on our talented team of culinary experts, but to show the world another of the many attributes of Bonaire – our cuisine fused with the tantalizing and surprising flavors of our local products,” said Ethsel Pieternella, Director, Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “This team is the perfect representation of the work ethic, ambition, and talent so often encountered in Bonaire’s culinary scene. Everyone on Bonaire is behind the team and is proud of them regardless of the final results,” he added.

Jack Chalk of Captain Don’s Habitat, Donna Dovale and Giorgio Arra ,and Jheison Jaquez, bartender at RumRunners/Deco Stop Bar, will be accompanying the team to the event to help cheer them on to a victory.

Getting to Bonaire…United operates a weekly non-stop flight to Bonaire from Houston, TX and a weekly non-stop flight from Newark, NJ (The Newark flight is seasonal.) The Houston flight departs on Friday nights, arriving into Bonaire on Saturday mornings. The return flight departs on Saturday mornings arriving into Houston later the same day. The Newark flight departs Friday nights, arriving into Bonaire on Saturday mornings. The return flight departs on Saturday mornings arriving into Newark later that same day. Delta operates a weekly non-stop flight to/from Atlanta on Saturdays. Insel Air operates a weekly non-stop flight to/from Miami on Saturdays and a weekly direct flight to Bonaire on Saturdays from Charlotte via Curacao. Other flights from North America generally arrive in Aruba or Curacao. Flights between Bonaire, Aruba and Curacao are available on Dutch Antilles Express (DAE), EZ Air, Insel Air and Tiara Air. Divi Divi Air flies between Bonaire and Curacao.
