Dive Paradise RV Express Tour Connects
with Dive Centers Around the US
New York, NY — The #DiveParadiseRVExpress Tour, the innovative tribute around the US to Dive Paradise Cozumel Legend Renee “Apple” Applegate has covered more than 7,000 miles in just a few short weeks. The Tour began last month in Truckee, California, and has recently completed its “first leg” in Colorado last weekend.
The dive industry hasn’t seen this unique type of personalized promotion in a long time – if ever. New Dive Paradise CEO Michael Penwarden guided a customized 32-ft RV from Northern California through Arizona to New Mexico and Texas and finally Colorado stopping to talk with travel-savvy retailers in each state. Penwarden is Apple’s nephew and a tech entrepreneur who inherited the popular Cozumel-based dive operation after her passing late last year.
“We want to honor and pay tribute to Apple, and the tour provides us with that opportunity,” he says. “The best way for us to do this is to continue operating Dive Paradise as a living monument to the Dive Paradise community and family that Apple built over the last two decades. Hitting the road with my wife and children, including our dog, and visiting as many dive centers and travel professionals as possible is a great way to introduce ourselves and continue Apple’s legacy.”
One of the first stops on the tour was Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center in Long Beach, California. Store owner Jonathan Hall was impressed with the RV and glad to accommodate the first stop on the tour. “Cozumel is an important destination for the recreational scuba diving community. It was a pleasure meeting Michael and his family,” Hall said. “We’re looking forward to planning our next group trip to Cozumel and Dive Paradise will certainly be part of those plans.”
During the tour, the #DiveParadiseRVExpress stopped at Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center, Beach City Scuba, Ocean Enterprises, Oceanside SCUBA, Gigglin Marlin, OTA Diving and Travel, Pro Scuba, Scubaland Adventures, The Scuba Company, New Mexico Scuba Center, El Mar Diving Center, Blue Mind Divers, Summit Divers & Watersports, Tech Diving, San Diego Divers, Underwater Connection and A-1 Scuba and Travel Aquatics Center.
“It was humbling to meet with all of these dive professionals and to hear their stories about Dive Paradise as well as their relationships with Apple. It was also rewarding to have the opportunity to personally connect with potential new travel partners. We look forward to staying in touch with all of them and invite everyone to Cozumel to join us for some diving in the near future.”
